Range Circles and Tactical Compass

Hi!

It's been a while since the last update, for several reasons, one of them being real life, another that there was no content update to GW2 and yet another that the overlay is doing what it's supposed to just fine it seems.
However there was a small spark of inspiration today and I sat down to add two new features:

Range Display Circles
Tactical Compass
The range display circles can be toggled for the following values: 90, 120, 180, 240, 300, 600 and 1200 range. Their transparency can be also set.
The tactical compass is a compass that follows you around directly, which should be helpful in any scenario where there are no NSEW markers placed.

Both features are turned off by default, you can activate them separately in the Taco Menu.

You can download the new build from here.

Change notes:

  • Fixed a possible crash bug that would sometimes occur when focusing on a UI item
  • Added range display circles
  • Added tactical compass
  • Changed the unit for the fadeNear and fadeFar values to be in inches (game units) instead of meters (world units)
  • Removed the lunar new year marker pack from the package

  1. I find the letters for each direction really choppy when moving on my Asura. Not sure if there's a solution or not, thought I'd mention it. Really nice update, just a little distracting with how much the letters vibrate when moving.

    1. That happens because gw2 and taco both use the videocard to render and they fight for the resource, which taco is using as little as possible. Turning down your graphics settings in the game will help with the issue.

  3. Sorry to post this here (if this is not the place) but I love this overlay it just seems to me the World Map Timer is just wrong I compare it to the gw2.ninja/timer and also being in the map (TD for example) and the overlay states the Gerent is active but it's not. Same for AB, I've looked everywhere I could to confirm the overlay is getting the timer correctly but found nothing. You map timer is my most favorite piece but I can't rely on it unless I'm doing something wrong. Please advise if you can.

    1. What timezone are you in? I always had a suspicion that that might affect the timer. Check if the map is exactly an hour off in either direction.

  4. Hey, thanks for your work BoyC. When you do add configurable range circles I'd hope the configurable value wouldn't be limited much at all in the low end. Having an accurate way to know exactly where your character is could help in timing jumping puzzle speedruns from video footage for example among other things.

  5. Could you add another ring to the range indicator for 1500 range? (Deadeye rifle skills.) That'd be awesome.

    Thanks!
